W A Y N E C O U N T Y Speak Your Mind! 4 THE BUZZ AROUND WAYNE COUNTY SEPTEMBER 2026 Management at Berkeley Mall needs to look at the Goldsboro-Wayne County market to see if they can have stores related to the market. In other words, a majority of the individuals are military. Therefore, go to the military market and find out where and what stores do they need that relates to them. Do we need more car washes and gas stations? Just asking for a friend. Center Street has the Center Street Jam for secular music fans but Goldsboro needs to have a Gospel Music Fest at least once a year (Fall and/or Spring) maybe in the Mall parking Lot. I inquired about it with the Downtown Golds- boro Development person a few years ago & she said "No, you should check with the Parks & Recreation people. I assume it's because downtown caters more to drinkers. I think it would draw people that may be hesitant to go to a church out and be a positive thing for the community! Who's with me? What about bringing a kids- and teen-friendly area to the Mall, or a safe area in town? Honestly, we have so many car washes and gas stations to help another state. We are always asking our kids/teenagers to do something other than be on their phones. However, there is nothing in the county. The railroad tracks across 117 by the national guard armory. I wish Goldsboro would keep the roadside more maintained going in on William Street from 117. Make it where people would say, how beautiful this area is. Make it where citizens would enjoy riding into Goldsboro. As of now, it looks uncared for. Sorry, but that's my feelings. I would love to see a PopEyes in Mount Olive Sure would like to see a dog park in Goldsboro. Mt. Olive needs a State Employee Credit Union. Panhandlers on every corner 3 - 4 on some! Lots of traffic laws broken: illegal tints on vehicle windows, failure to give ap- propriate signals, driving way lower than posted speed, more officers needed patrolling and enforcing law. You need 4x4 to drive on some of these roads in Wayne County. How about at least repainting the lines so they are visible not just daytime but especially nighttime. Need an All-Way stop at the T intersection of Buck Swamp Rd and Salem Church Rd. We need "Captain D's" Restaurant to come Back to Goldsboro, NC. We have NO SEAFOOD Restaurants in Goldsboro. The police department needs to enforce handicap parking. It's extremely irri- tating to see so many cars parked in those spots without a handicapped tag or license plate. The city and county could make a lot of money since it's $250 fine not to mention how it would help the handicapped people· Why does the City of Goldsboro require recycling but often empties both bins in the same truck? And why are we charged $1.00 per month for recycling? Someone needs to find out why the power in Fremont NC is so much higher than surrounding areas. At this point, it would be very hard to find much going good within the Town of Mt. Olive! There are some trashy people who are littering the roadsides. I don't understand why they can't wait to throw it in their trashcan when they get home. Can Indian Springs road PLEASE get paved? I've driven down dirt roads that were smoother. The Neuse River Bridge on Bill Lane Boulevard needs to be redone. I've seen people's lawnmower trailers come unhooked from their vehicles because it is so bumpy and it's been like that for years now. Mount Olive needs to fix the roads in town. I know we're not supposed to mention names, why did they close my Quiznos? I loved that place and now it's gone. So rumor is hwy111 south and Hwy 70 is having Clayton Homes move back a bit from the current location, making room for another Royal Farms!? And also getting another Wawa on the opposite corner of the intersection?! The traffic will be horrible ! Bad idea!! Roads in northern Wayne need repairs since the new housing areas have grown like crazy and the roads have taken a beating. The school buses and medical vehicles are taking a beating along with fire vehicles. The TALL Grassy Medians between the Roadways on 70 Hwy need to be CUT. If a Vehicle should Breakdown & pull off into the Tall DRY Grass, the Catalytic Converter in the Exhaust Gets SO HOT, it could Start a FIRE. The town needs to clean up the road sides we are a trashy looking town .! THANK YOU for letting it rip in SPEAK YOUR MIND!! This is YOUR soapbox. Your two cents.
