Center St. Previously known as the Worrell Contracting Back to School Bash, this year's event marks the ninth Back to School event hosted by Adrian and Selena Worrell, now continuing under the banner of their nonprofit foundation. The free community event is designed to support local students and families as they prepare for the upcoming school year, bringing together families, community organizations, and local partners for an evening of encouragement, resources, and connection. The Bash is just one piece of a much larger mission. What began as a vision shared by founders Adrian and Selena Worrell has grown into a movement dedicated to transforming young lives. Officially established in August 2025 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the A&S Worrell Foundation was created to serve, uplift, and empower youth, particularly those in underserved communities. The organization focuses on middle and high school students, offering field trips, hands-on learning initiatives, financial literacy workshops, career exploration programs, and cul- tural experiences that many students might not otherwise access. "At A&S Worrell Foundation, we believe every child deserves access to knowledge, opportunity, and hope," said Adrian Worrell, Co-Founder. "Our programs are designed to inspire students to dream big- ger, explore the world around them, and build confidence in their future." The foundation's work is guided by six core values: equity, empowerment, education, community, integrity, and compassion. Recently, the organization announced its inaugural Board of Directors, a diverse group of local leaders including Chair Selena Worrell, Vice Chair Adrian Worrell, Secretary Deborah Sykes, Treasurer Sarah Gaylor, and Public Relations lead Roderica Worrell, along with board members Ingrid Cox, Winston Cox, Bilma Iniguez, Harlon Neal, Duane Lewis, and Dr. Earl Moore. "We're planting seeds that will grow for generations," said Selena Worrell, Co-Founder and Board Chair. "Our mission is not just to support students today, but to help shape leaders for tomorrow." For the Back to School Bash, the foundation is inviting local businesses and organizations to join as community partners through monetary contributions, in-kind donations, or volunteer support.
