W A Y N E C O U N T Y Speak Your Mind! 4 THE BUZZ AROUND WAYNE COUNTY MAY 2026 All County Commissioners should live in the county. Their cars should be registered in Wayne County. They should be paying property taxes on their vehicles to Wayne County, just like the rest of us. Bring an A&W restaurant to Wayne Memorial and US 70 bypass. It befuddles me why we can't get something besides waffles houses and Taco Bell's on the west side. How about a nice Ace Hardware or another Lowe's so we don't have to go clear across town. How about a nice more upscale restaurant option??? Would also love weekly food truck rodeos here like downtown every Friday night or Saturday. The powers that be need to cut taxes and also cut it for big companies to come here to build up revenue so we all don't have to pay so much. Kinston has way more and we don't get them because our people don't see long term tax revenue. Hood Swamp road is real bad! Stop increasing our taxes and getting nothing back for it!! I think people need to know that our Representatives have voted for the increases that Duke energy gets and the co-ops we need people to be aware so they know who to vote for. Can we get Grantham School Road widened and repaved from Stevens Mill all the way to Duplin County line? I wish there were more clubs and activities for teens to join. Cooking classes, STEM, robotics, agriculture, games, something other than art at 4:30 pm. How about where are the city police? People run through red lights every second. I see it every time I'm on the road. Why are they not visible and giving tickets out? Why are our taxes exploding? We need DOGE to audit Wayne County, every nook and crack! There is so much waste! Why are we the #1 county in NC with the most low-income housing and they are still building! What are we doing Wayne County!? Very concerned about the anticipated 2-year road closure to rebuild the bridge on Stevens Mill Road. We need a Home Depot, but not on Berkeley, it's already a disaster there. Also, we need roads fixed all over. I don't like driving and dodging pot holes everywhere in the county! Please fix Hood Swamp Rd. It needs a full repair, not a patch job. This is one of the worst roads in the County. Also, a no turn on red at the 70 East exit ramp by Target would do wonders for the cars turning left out onto Ash St. Stop double taxing us that live in the city, on property taxes for our vehicles we pay city/county. Y'all just robbing the citizens without a gun. Fix the roads, Cut Property Tax... Walk ways over the highway, busy roads. No more car washes, Make it safer for traffic at business 70 & 111. Goldsboro and Wayne County is being left behind while other towns are growing. All the money spent to revitalize Center Street and for anyone that wanted to enjoy the atmo- sphere, all the roads leading to Center Street is like a washboard. Patched areas, man holes and ruts make the trip very discouraging. All the new roads around Goldsboro are outside the city limits making that direction more pleasing to traffic. The downtown roads need help! Why can't Wayne County draw Commerce like the surrounding counties? I won't even comment on Goldsboro-- that's a LOST CAUSE., in the County however, how about some of you know nothing do nothing politicians start raising hell in Raleigh for some highway improvements....! NCDOT spent money to put a lane partition on a dead-end road rather than fixing a highly used road that absolutely needs to be fixed ( Hood Swamp Road). It is ridiculous, and doesn't make any sense!! Stop increasing our taxes!! And stop giving free services to non-citizens! I'd like to properly taxes come down.. Start building and starting family-oriented businesses in the area so families have somewhere to go instead of leaving town to go to Raleigh or equivalent. There needs to be a new traffic light at the intersection of New Hope and Patetown. During school time, which there are 3 schools by my home, I can't get home to turn on my street or leave my street. The traffic is horrible. I would love to see the stop sign put back up on the road coming out of the Five Points Food Lion! Yes, roads are a mess, Selah Church Road is horrible, time to quit patching it and repave it! Start pulling people when they don't go the speed limit. I'm tired of being behind people that can't go the dagum speed limit. Can something be done about neighbors who rarely cut their lawns with weeds continuously 3 feet high?! Is it just me, or does Goldsboro (in particular) seem very segregated .. still.. in a sense..? I would like to see the dilapidated autos removed from corner lot of 111 S and 70 E near Mc- Calls BBQ. Someone investigate Mt Olive water company, seems something fishy is going on with people's bills! Property taxes mean us owners are carrying all persons living in the county who don't pay taxes. It has reached the point that us owners can no longer afford to keep up the whole. Doge is needed here! All communities must say NO to electric and water using Al Data Centers!! We need our water and farm land to grow food!! Our electricity will be very high!!! Politicians don't be stupid!! Can we PLEASE get a traffic light installed at the intersection of Ash and Claiborne Streets? It's very dangerous trying to turn left onto Ash Street from either direction of Claiborne Street and depending on the time of day, it's almost impossible to cross over Ash Street from Claiborne Street. We need to consider our senior citizens that's leaving the senior building located on that corner as well. As I drive around the city each day, there are multiple times when I see drivers running red lights. I'm not talking about being in the intersection when the light turns red, I mean they are actually running the intersection after the light has turned red. They don't even make an attempt to slow down, but just drive right through the intersection. One day, this is going to lead to an accident and lives are going to be lost. Wondering when the roads will be addressed in La Grange? I shouldn't have to get a fresh align- ment for my car after every trip to Food Lion. The entire town is a road hazard.
