18 THE BUZZ AROUND WAYNE COUNTY MAY2026 Chicken & Stuffing Casserole by Beulah Jones Grant What You'll Need: 4-6 chicken breasts, deboned and & skinned half Swiss cheese slices 1/3 cup, cooking sherry 1 cup, cream of chicken soup 2 cups, stuffing mix 1 stick, melted butter Place breasts in casserole dish. Top with cheese slices. Combine soup and sherry. Pour over chicken. Top with stuffing. Pour melted butter over all. Bake at 30 degrees for 45 minutes. Winner winner…Chicken dinner! Broccoli Salad by Susie Legree Shepherd What You'll Need: 2 bunches of broccoli, cut into bite sized pieces 3 teaspoons, sugar 1 cup nuts 2 tablespoons, wine vinegar ½ cup mayonnaise 1 cup raisins 1 cup fried bacon pieces 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Placed washed broccoli in bowl. Add mayonnaise and wine vinegar. Stir in sugar, then add nuts, raisins and bacon pieces. Sprinkle cheese on top. Good eating! CHEESE STRAWS by Linda Bullock What You'll Need: 1 lb. cheddar cheese, grated 1 cup butter or margarine 3 cups all purpose flour, sifted ½ teaspoon, salt ½ teaspoon, red pepper Mix cheddar cheese and butter well. Add dry ingredients, small portions at a time and mix well. Pres onto an ungreased cookie sheet through a cookie press. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Cool or serve warm. Bon Appetit! Sausage Balls by Bettye B. Lewis What You'll Need: 1 lb. bulk pork sausage 3 cups biscuit mix 1 teaspoon paprika 1 10-oz. pkg. extra sharp ched dar cheese Have sausage and cheese at room temperature. Combine and mix well. Add paprika and biscuit mix and mix well. Roll into small balls and bake at 350 degrees 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Makes 100 sausage – cheese balls. Enjoy!
