W A Y N E C O U N T Y Speak Your Mind! 4 THE BUZZ AROUND WAYNE COUNTY OCTOBER 2026 Speaking my mind. There are a lot of ministry opportunities in assisted living facilities and senior apartments. Many seniors can no longer drive to church and not many churches are helping out. Please help. With the election coming, it would be nice if ALL elected officials focused on one party, the HUMAN PARTY, just serve people and give us the best we deserve without agendas! I think the people living in Goldsboro are way past due for a bypass highway from Goldsboro to Greenville. Highway 13 North of Goldsboro has a lot more traffic nowadays and with the school buses, farm equipment, low speed limits and multiple no passing zones, the trip to Greenville seems to take forever! I have recently joined the "Berkeley Mall Walkers" 5 days a week. My first observation was how friendly the other walkers are. The Mall doors open plenty early to accommodate the dedicated walkers. Next, the mall is very clean. The floors are spotless and gleaming, and so are the restrooms. There's security personnel on duty which makes it very secure and safe. While walk- ing your laps you can enjoy a selection of good music that's playing. And fi nally, walking in an air conditioned environment when it's so steamy outside is a welcomed benefit. Thank you to the Mall's management team for provid- ing us with this much appreciated opportunity. Godspeed! A number of the "self storage" locations in Goldsboro are owned and operat- ed by Compass Self Storage. To get you into a unit, they'll start with a decent, doable (monthly) rate, then they raise the price, depending upon the size of the unit and this rise happens more than once a year. Then there's the "late fees"! Before you know it, you can't afford the payment & late fees anymore. Then, after having been paying for the storage unit for who knows how long, you're locked out, your unit is confiscated and everything you own is sold off for whatever they can get for it. This is PREDATORY and WRONG!!! This company and others with these practices need to be investigated!! Please build a bigger and better animal shelter for those poor pets. To the folks that are homeless and hang around Spence Avenue next to Walmart asking for help, contact the United Way of Wayne County for help. The number is 211. Hey CANDIDATES, if you want my vote maybe you should come to where I live, some of us are in public housing and those are some of the votes you need too! Please Pikeville, could we get Tina Avenue repaved like it was before those new water lines were put in. That patch work that was done just ain't cutting it! Please do the road construction slated for Wayne Memorial at Tommy's Road Elementary at night. Union Station in Goldsboro. What's going on with that Station? When are they going to work on it? Stoney Creek park, the largest park in Goldsboro, needs to be revamped. In other words, it's too fl ood prone. Get new grasses to fix the yard, Goldsboro Parks and Recreation. Where's the Democratic Party offi ce in Wayne County? The Republican Party has one. It's a shame that Sunday Souls to the Polls has been taken away! I'm again begging to please pave Indian Springs rd. Between Arrington Bridge and 111. It's a literal minefi eld. Go see StageStruck: The Young People's Own Theatre's production of Frozen in November. I sure do miss Central Park! At what point will the school superintendent fix the bussing problem? Let me help, pay teachers who are willing to be bus drivers too. When I was in school, they did BOTH without added pay! Sacrifices have to be made for the better- ment of others. Is there any competition for McCall's BBQ? No shade to them, but another buf- fet restaurant would help the area! It would be great if we could get the Soul R&B station WOKN and the gospel radio station WFMC back , that is all. Some organization or organizations should throw a city wide BLOCK PARTY!!! Something different here, come on Goldsboro, think out of the box. To all the fast food workers, work on your work ethic! It doesn't take much to make sure the order is right on the receipt IN THE BAG before you give it to a customer! How bout go the extra mile! Hey Downtown Goldsboro, FREESTYLE FRIDAY was AWESOME. Bring it back more often, I think it would help the downtown scene. Better united than divided will always win elections. Even people who disagree understand being united in the voting booth instead of being emotional will WIN!
