With a vote of 5 to 1, the Goldsboro City Council voted during March to finance a new Herman Park Rec Center at an approximate cost of $11 million. The only "no" vote came from Councilman Antonio Williams who stated his main concern was that the facility needed three gymnasiums, not two, in order to provide for the basketball tournaments. A third gym would have increased the cost by over $2 million. Plans are to demolish the current building to build the new 39,000 square-ft facility on the same property. The final approval will come sometime in April. The Public is Invited! The Goldsboro Public Library is celebrating the "Beauty of North Carolina through the pages of Our State" with Elizabeth Hudson, Editor-in-Chief of Our State Magazine. Please join us at the Goldsboro Public Library as we celebrate National Library Week on April 9th at 7:00 pm. Hudson will enlighten us with the process of building a magazine and how the Our State team is able to capture astonishing photographs and stories capturing the essence of life in the Land of the Longleaf Pine. Participants will receive a free copy of Our State magazine (while supplies last). No registration required to attend. APRIL 13TH SATURDAY Free monthly downtown history walk.
