18 THE BUZZ AROUND WAYNE COUNTY JUNE 2026 Chocolate Chip Pound Cake by Etta Hamilton What You'll Need: 1 box Duncan Hines classic yel- low cake mix 1 (8 oz.) sour cream 4 eggs ¾ cups water ½ cup oil 1 sm. box instant chocolate pud- ding 1 (6 oz.) bag chocolate chips Mix together cake mix, eggs, wa- ter, and oil; stir in sour cream and chocolate pudding; mix well. Add chocolate chips (may use ½ bag). Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes or until tested with fork. Winner winner! Mexican Corn Bread by Becky Leon What You'll Need: 1 can cream-style corn 1 cup white cornmeal 2 eggs, slightly beaten 1 tsp. salt ½ tsp. baking soda ¾ cup milk 1/3 cup margarine, melted 1 (4-oz) can green chilies, chopped 1 cup cheddar cheese, grated 2 tablespoons margarine Combine all ingredients except ½ cup grated cheese. Melt 2 tablespoons margarine in a 1 ½-quart casserole dish in oven. While casserole dish is warm, pour batter in and sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake at 400 degrees for 40 minutes or until golden brown. Serve hot with a spoon. Serves 6. Good eat- ing!pieces. Sprinkle cheese on top. Good eating! Swiss Chicken Casserole by Autumn Scott What You'll Need: 6 chicken breast halves, boned & skinned 6 slices of Swiss cheese 10 ¾ -oz. can cream of chicken soup 2 cups herb seasoned stuffing mix ¼ cup butter, melted Arrange chicken in lightly greased baking dish. Top with cheese slices. Stir chicken soup and spoon over chicken. Sprinkle with stuffing mix and drizzle butter on top. Cover and cook at 350 degrees for 50 minutes. Bon Appetit! Western Mac by Hortensia Thompson What You'll Need: 1 pkg. macaroni & cheese dinner 1 lb. ground beef ½ cup celery, sliced ½ cup celery, chopped 2 cups whole kernel corn, drained 1 (6-oz.) can tomato paste ½ cup water 1 tsp. salt Dash of pepper ¼ cup green pepper, chopped Prepare mac and cheese dinner as directed. Brown meat, celery, green pepper and onion; cook until tender. Stir in corn, tomato paste, water, salt and pepper. Add mac and cheese; mix well. Pour into a 2-quart casserole.
