12 THE BUZZ AROUND WAYNE COUNTY September 2024 Wayne Regional Agricultural Fair The Wayne Regional Ag- ricultural Fair is celebrating 75 years of excellence during this year's fair scheduled for Sep- tember 26 through October 5. As the largest annual event in the county, the fair draws around 100,000 visitors each year, offering ten days of excitement and family fun – better known as 'The BEST Ten Days of Fall'. The fair has an exciting line-up of enter- tainment planned. Grayson Matchett's Agri- cadabra Magic Shows will amaze with daily illusions, while the Comedy Hypnotist Show guarantees laughter and astonishment. Ember Fire Arts will light up the night with spectac- ular fire performances, and Hog Diggity Dog will provide a fast paced, exciting animal act filled with laughter and surprises. Carolina the Band will perform two one-hour energetic concerts on Sunday afternoon sure to please all music lovers. Gate admission is $10 for ages 13 and up, $5 for ages 12 and under, and free for preschoolers. We offer a great deal during our $90 Southern Bank Carload Special on Thursday, September 26 only. $90 gets up to six people in the same vehicle gate admission and wristbands! Wristbands do require an additional $2 activation fee. Gates open weekdays at 4 PM, 11 AM on Saturdays, and 1 PM on Sunday. Powers Great Midways will feature over 40 exhilarat- ing rides and will open at 5 PM on weekdays, 12 noon on Saturdays, and 1 PM on Sunday. Tasha Sneed Nelson Cunningham WCPS Announces Administrative Changes Goldsboro, N.C. – The Wayne County Board of Education approved the following administrative changes at Monday's regularly scheduled Board meeting: Greenwood Middle School principal, Nelson Cunningham, was named principal of Charles B. Aycock High School. He is re- placing Tod Morgan, who is taking a position outside of Wayne County Public Schools. Mr. Cunningham has 21 years of teaching and school administrative experience, and has served in his current role since 2022. In addi- tion to being a graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School, he also taught mathematics there earlier in his career. Mr. Cunningham holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics education and a master's degree in school administra- tion. "Mr. Cunningham's administrative experi- ence and understanding of Charles B. Aycock High's school community will make him an asset to the students, staff and families," states Dr. Marc Whichard, Superintendent. Wayne County Public Schools assistant director of Career & Technical Education, Tasha Sneed, was named the principal of Greenwood Middle School. Ms. Sneed has 24 years of instructional assistance, teaching, school administrative, and district administra- tive experience. She has served in her current role since 2023. Ms. Sneed holds a bache- lor's degree in family and consumer science education and a master's degree in school administration. She also holds a national board certification. WCC's Allied Health Graduates Honored at Pinning Ceremony GOLDSBORO, N.C. – Wayne Community College's Workforce Continuing Education Services held a pinning ceremony to recognize the summer graduates of its Allied Health pro- grams. Students in the College's Nurse Aide I, Dialysis Technician, and Phlebotomy programs received pins and certificates at the ceremony to signify the successful completion of their courses. There were a total of 51 graduates. Pictured above are the graduates with the highest-grade point average in each class that were recognized during the ceremony.
