Teen Court of Wayne County By BreAnna VanHook Teen Court Director Teen Court of Wayne County is oper- ated by Communities Supporting Schools of Wayne. Teen Court is a diversionary program created to give our local youth a second chance. By successfully completing the Teen Court Program, teens avoid having a criminal conviction on their record. Our teen volunteers benefit from the Teen Court program by developing public speaking skills, learning about the judicial process, helping their fellow teens avoid a criminal conviction, and by gaining moot court experience. Teen Court meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at 6pm at the Wayne County Courthouse. We are cur- rently recruiting more teen volunteers by hosting training sessions at local middle and high schools. If you would like to learn more about becoming a Teen Court volunteer, please e-mail BreAnna VanHook at teencourt@waynecss.org, or call the Teen Court office at (919) 735-1432. 18 The Buzz Around Wayne County April 2019 Invest in Literacy Through Lilies for Literacy! A few CB Aycock classmates began to talk about the alarming rate in which many of our friends are leaving us! Unfortunately, it's happening to the young and old, and way too often. Someone said, "let's have an annual reunion". We can't continue waiting on a five, ten; or twenty year reunion to come around. So the idea soared as if on the wings of a "Falcon". Our first Annual "Falcon Festival Re- union" is Saturday, April 6th, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.! The location is the old Pikeville school site, now called Dees Memorial Park 403 NW Railroad Street Pikeville, NC 27863! We will enjoy a day of honoring the fallen, remembering the past, embracing the day we have, and recognizing our future. Come out for a day filled with entertain- ment, food, fun and fellowship. Many of our CB Aycock "Falcon" classmates attending as vendors with various products. All former school singers and Falconette & Falconair Chorus members will be singing. Singers are encouraged to meet our former Director Mr. Jimmy Wooten at the Park Gazebo at 11:30 a.m.! Also, we will be hosting a Benefit Bike Ride for a little boy from the Patetown com- munity! "WeRide4Arian" - he has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Also a Car-Bike-Truck Show for Leukemia Foundation hosted by "ScrapinBy Car Club". It's gonna be great, don't be late; and we'll see you there!
