Before After Nails 'N More COBBLESTONE PLACE • 413 N Spence Ave 919-778-4357 or 919-778-8810 Saving Our Kids By Jessica Daly Philippians 4:6 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation present your requests to God." Recently, I attended a conference where a doctor of child psychiatry spoke on the epidemic of anxiety in the lives of children across our nation. The speaker explained how more and more children and teens enter her practice due to issues with anxiety, depression and often thoughts or failed at- tempts at suicide. You may wonder why this is happening to our young people? I truly believe that all of these problems are from the devil. The Bible tells us that the devil comes into our lives to kill, steal and destroy all that God intended for us including our peace, comfort, trust and love. When I read Philippians 4:6 it is very clear that God tells us to "not be anxious about anything". It goes even further when it says this pertains to EVERY situation and that we are to present what we need to God. Are we teaching our kids to do this? Are we reminding them of this every day? Are we living this for our kids in our own lives? Anxiety, depression and suicide are not part of God's plan for our lives. He ex- plains in His living Word that He does NOT give us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. So if fear does not come from God, it definitely comes from the very one who wants to destroy us. Don't allow the devil to steal God's power, love and sound mind from our children. We must continue to empower them with the Bible and its truth by trusting the Lord with everything and going to Him in continual prayer. Be Anxious F Nothing By Beverly Weeks The pain swept fiercely through my head. I could hardly bare the throbbing in my temples. My vision grew blurry, and from out of nowhere the severe headache caught me by surprise. In less than an hour, I had gone from laughter and my usual fun, outgoing, quirky self to being knocked flat off my size eight feet with a severe paralyzing migraine. Immediately my mind started to fill with panic, what if's, anxiety, thoughts, and assumptions that had me in an uproar as to what my medical diagnosis could possibly be. I became anxious and I panicked. Many of you know all too well what the feeling of panic feels like. Maybe you have found yourself recently in the middle of a broken marriage or relationship, it could be that you're going through a messy divorce; maybe it's your finances, a situation with a prodigal child, attacks of gossip, worries with your job, and a circumstance with your health. The enemy will haunt your mind with crippling thoughts of fear, doubt, and have you believing that things will never get bet- ter, that you will always be stuck in a rut, that you don't deserve any better, that you are getting just what you deserve, that this is all your fault, that there is no such thing as forgiveness, healing or restoration. I want you to know that Satan is a liar! There is rest for the weary, there is hope for the faint at heart, there is a ridiculous, life changing PEACE that can come to us when we began to pray and call upon the mighty name of Jesus! Be anxious f nothing… Philippians 4:6-9 Thank yy to all yr custtts that have supppted us thryghyt yr ffst yee in business. Here's The Deal By Mary Kay Best Things change. This is true. Celebrate By Mary Wroblewski While the Christian world celebrates the risen Christ this year on April twenty first, our family will also be celebrating the twenty-first birthday of our oldest grandson Austin. I find this landmark birthday difficult to comprehend when it seems only yesterday I was nuzzling that precious bundle of pure joy taking in big breaths of sweet baby smell. That smell transporting me to the place in my soul where every thing that is right in the world resides… that place full of light and possibility, hope and grace, and a deep knowledge that our ways, our morals, our customs, our civilization will carry on. A lot to put on the shoulders of a newborn, but isn't that what God our Father did to his only Son Jesus? He was confident that Jesus would live to fulfill his destiny in life so that we might fulfill ours and then live eternally with Him. The expectation of our mission is not so intenseas that of Jesus. We are asked most importantly that we "love the Lord our God with all our heart, with all our soul and with all our mind and that we love our neighbor as our self "; not a tall order considering the great sacrifice Jesus made for us. The parallels are clear as we become parents and watch our offspring grow and become of age to how our heavenly Father might have felt with His Son living in such a realm where temptation and evil are only a breath away. Yet His Son perseveres and navigates these challenging seas to His ultimate mission; and with prayer and grace we arm our children and grandchildren to weather the ever-changing storms of life. We encourage a lifestyle that brings the light and word of Christ to all they encounter. We rejoice in the goodness of their everyday moments and achievements and yes, we celebrate each passing year with that same renewal of spirit we encountered with that first whiff of sweet baby smell. Happy Easter and Happy Birthday Austin!
