A D O S E O F Z I N By Sharntay Morales Your life's journey is significantly differ- ent than every other person on this planet, albeit some similarities. Through life there are series of unveiling truths about the world and the role you play in it. During these unveiling's called "the process" (of becoming you), you'll experi- ence highs, lows and close counters. We all like to believe the light we see in ourselves, that we are over all a good person, mind our business and try to be spiritual in our own way. Let me be the bearer of liberating news.....there's a dark side to EVERY truth. You can spend your life trying to only reflect your light, but until you embrace ALL of you, you'll be a prisoner to an imbal- ance of occasional torment, tragic highs and stifling lows. Instead embrace and love all of you even the parts that are not so great. If you keep fighting against those parts of you then they will only persist. What I'm presenting here is an embrac- ing of your entire being, without embarrass- ment or shame, so that you can get close enough to the area to offer healing. As long as you're anti that part of you, no pro-motion of healing can be offered. Love all of you as God does and watch life within become a pool of peace. 12 The Buzz Around Wayne County April 2019 IT'S NOT MY PROBLEM, RIGHT? By Kriquette Davis Too often, we hear of tragic circumstanc- es and think-I am so glad that didn't happen to me or it was bound to happen sooner or later, that's what they get when they do something wrong. Romans 12:8 says "You're called to give aid to people in distress". It is wrong to avoid helping someone in trouble. Whether or not they brought the trouble on themselves, God calls on us to help our neighbors. This past Sunday, Pastor Jim told a story of a man that watched another man drown. The drowning man was thrashing around, crying for help. The other man just continued reading his paper. I instantly felt outraged. I cannot under- stand how someone could just watch some- one drown. Then I felt my toes being stepped on…on many occasions I too have let people "drown". Not because I was trying to be un- kind or unloving, I was too self-absorbed. It's so easy to let things go and believe that people should take care of their own problems. You may not get involved because it's not a conve- nient time or you are protecting yourself. But none of those reasons are good excuses. God expects us to demonstrate our love for Him and our neighbors by helping those in trouble. Sometimes helping someone can simply be an encouraging phone call or a text message. We should always seek to understand other's situations. Together we can bring each other through the fire! Open Heart Fashion for me an open heart that I may choose love and not hate, and acceptance instead of judgment. Open my ears so that I will choose to listen, and not to speak. Help me to be gentle and kind. Even to those who have used me ill in the past. Make for me a heart of forgiveness and intent. A mind of peace. Let me send nothing but good thoughts to all I encounter. An open heart, an open mind, send me. Melancholia ADVERTISE HERE!
